It wasn't until about 15 years after I started reading comics that I realized the design of Captain America's shield is based on the emblem displayed on U.S. military aircraft, with the red and white stripes wrapping around the blue disk instead of being set behind it.

Until 8th grade I thought reindeer were imaginary creatures from the Santa Claus myth.

Until 6th grade I didn't realize raisins were grapes.

Never put together Cain Marko, Arby's or the "A to Z" in the Amazon smile, either.

It was only in the last few years that I realized that 1980's rocker Adam Ant's name spells "adamant" when put together.  Hey, I was 12 years old when he hit the scene.  I just took the name at face value.

When Ms. Tree was a brand new comic book, an adult pointed out to me that Ms. Tree = mystery.  Who knows how long it would have taken me otherwise?

My personal "Duh" moment comes from the late 1980s when I was just getting started on my Japanese animation kick. Having procured a videotape of an episode of a series titled Urusei Yatsura ("Those Oboxious Aliens") and a limited understanding of Japanese words, I proceeded to show my parents an episode while narrating the events being described as best I could imagine. Years later, the official translations come out, and I find out that one supporting character I thought was calling another "Fool!" was actually using an honorific term refering to "We/our" in relation to the characters' family background.

I'm a fan of Adam Ant and I never caught that, Josh! I'm getting more of my own "Duh" moments as a result of this thread. LOL!

Bloody hell. Turns out I've been spreading misinformation. From the official Arby's FAQ:

Q. Does the name Arby’s stand for "RB," as in "roast beef?"
A. Close, but not quite. It comes from our founders, Leroy and Forrest Raffel, the Raffel Brothers, or "RB."

How long did it take for some of you to see the arrow in the Fed Ex logo?

It was pointed out to me a few years ago...

A while back someone pointed out the name of the librarian in Star Trek's  "All Our Yesterdays", Mister Atoz is a very in your face riff on  A to Z. My Duh moment for not noticing,
