Adam Ant took his name from a U.K. tv series from the 60`s sci-fi/detective/adventure themed in which a Victorian gentleman awakens in modern times(60`s) and fights crime, his name Adam Adamant!

Of course, within the Fed Ex logo there is also a hidden spoon in the word "Fed." I don't believe that's intentional, however... :-)

The only "Duh" moment in comics that comes to mind for me was when Alex Ross redesigned the future Aquaman in KINGDOM COME as a kind of undersea King Arthur. "Wait--he's a king...and his name is Arthur!" Duh!

I only realized yesterday while talking to a friend that credit cards are just pieces of plastic with magnetic cassette tape fused to the back. All it is is a strip of tape containing a string of characters.

It took me literally decades to realised that Bowie's 'Space Oddity' would have been a play on 2001: a Space Odyssey, which came out the year before the song.

I always thought ponies grew up to be horses....

(like how puppies became dogs and kittens became cats)

maybe not the same kind of "duh" moment because i always suspected it anyways, was when it was confirmed that Gene Colan WAS Adam Astin.

similarly, when it was made public that ACG's cover artist for Magicman and Nemesis was NOT Ken Wahl (and another name, something Forte?) was in reality Kurt Schaffenberg (sp?). again i "knew", ok, really, really believed it was the same artist as Lois Lane, there was still a "duh".

i believe this was done so the artists would not have problems with their (then) current employers - but really, could those employers NOT see Gene Colan in Adam Austin's Sub-Mariner? and the Kurt Schaffenberg (again: sp?) covers, seriously, i don't even think he attempted to change his "style" in any way.

i think these "duh" moments are actually directed to those employers that didn't recognize their own artists!

One of my favorite realizations ever: Fargo North, Decoder.  I still laugh at that.

I don't recall the artist in question unfortunately.  But there's been a story going around for decades that a DC artist was also working at Marvel under a different name.  One day his DC editor calls calls him into the office to complain that his artwork isn't exciting and dynamic enough.  The editor then pulls out a Marvel book (featuring the artist's work).

"Try to draw more like this guy," the editor tells him.

The artist responds that he knows 'that guy' and he also happens to know that Stan Lee is secretly paying 'that guy' higher than the standard rate.  The artist than suggests he could make his own artwork more dynamic if he was getting the same page rate as 'that guy' at Marvel.

And thus, he got a raise.

Mr. Atoz got past me as well. It wasn't till I join the forum that it was brought to my attention.

I use to call Adam Ant Atom as well. But I don't consider that a duh moment. I knew his name but I prefered calling him Atom Ant anyway.

Only a few years ago I realized that the child singing "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" is seeing Daddy dressed up as Santa Claus.
