In fact, bring back Cloud.  They already have an established character they could use.

Bendis is a buffoon.

Including John Constantine and Catwoman being suddenly bisexual.

----

References to John Constantine having boyfriends in the past date to 1992. 23 years is not suddenly. As for Catwoman, my only issue with her being bisexual is that this makes at least three of Batman's femme fatales (Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn)  bisexual, which seems less about inclusiveness and more about male girl-on-girl fantasy.

John Constantine has been bisexual for a very long time. Since the Jamie Delano days on Hellblazer, I think. It's just usually forgotten.

With Selina Kyle I think bisexuality was at least implied even before the New 52 reboot.

But yes, Bendis is an awful writer.

Bringing back a character eight people remember is no way to generate headlines.

And, remember, far from being about "inclusion," stories like this serve to demonstrate how far homosexual men and women still have to go. As long as it's a big deal for a character to be revealed to be Gay, there is no equality.

I might be missing something, but where is this vocal fandom you speak of?___________________Over the last 13 years there have been a number of vocal online comic book fans who have been insisting that Ice Man is gay because he had "relationship problems with his past girlfriends" and saying that he should be outed. I believe that this type of idiotic nonsense from those vocal fans is partially why Ice Man has now been retconned into being gay.

I don't know if Ivy and Harley were 100% confirmed as bi. It was suggested but not made totally clear. Same with Selina. But yeah, it's to titillate male readers, no doubt.

Don't start me on Gotham City! With Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn all being bi-sexual and Batwoman and the Question being lesbians, that leaves Batgirl as the sole straight female costumed character running around. Pure playing up to the male demographic if I've ever seen it (all the while wrapped in the disguise of "look how inclusive we are!").

Then again, there's Apollo and Midnighter. (Yes, I know they're not Batman characters and shouldn't be -- that's another thing I hate about The New 52, Midnighter and Batman in the same world -- stooooopid.)

"Relationship problems with past girlfriends" is criteria for being gay?
By that metric, I'm gay!

Stupid.

If you think that's stupid, then Axel Alonso's reasons for justifying Rawhide Kid being retconned into being gay was an even higher level of stupidity. Alonso said that Rawhide Kid was obviously gay because he was shy around women. yes folks, these are the geniuses calling the shots at Marvel's publishing division.

And here is link to a newsarama article about Ice Man being outed. If you read the comments on the article you will see a number of fans siting Ice Man's problems with his past girlfriends, him not ever having a long term relationship with a girl, and a bunch of other psycobbable (all of which is mentioned in the actual comic) as "proof" that Ice Man has always been gay.

Here's the proof that Bendis is writing Ice Man like a fan instead of a pro.
