Very scary.Sounds like you have good support. That's key. I had a stress test done last year as bad hearts run in the family. Stay on top of this thing my good man .

You can never have too many reminders to NEVER ignore abnormal chest pain. Thanks for sharing this Mark, and stay healthy.

Denial is a powerful narcotic and it hits us right when we need it the least. It's good that you were able to overcome it and get the help you needed. I wish you luck with the recovery and with getting in shape afterwards. Your post might just be a wake-up call I should pay some attention to as well.

Stay strong & healthy, Mark!
I'm only 42 and haven't had any major incidents yet, but I do know there have been plenty of times when heartburn or pinched nerves have woken me up in the middle of the night, and that can be just as scary when you're not quite sure at first what is going on... a very empty, unsettling feeling. I can't imagine yet when the realization will come when you just KNOW you need to go to the hospital.
Best wishes!

Wow. I have a friend who is 47, I think. He recently had a heart attack and described the experience almost exactly as you have. He wasn't sleeping, but he did mention the "muscle pain" sensation and the denial. His was a "best case" heart attack, as well. Happy for both of you, in that regard.
I'm 46. I do exercise and try to eat right. Not enough of either, probably....will be mindful of the signs.

I had mine last year at 44. I initially dismissed it as a pulled muscle (from shovelling snow in late March) in my right arm, but then the 'pulled muscle' never went away after months. I woke up August 2nd feeling sore and uncomfortable all over, and again dismissed it ("Hey... aren't all these muscles connected..."was my mindset), but figured I'd run to an Urgent Care just to be sure. I was in the midst of driving to the nearest Urgent Care to get that 'sore muscle' looked at again when I made the decision to go right to an emergency room and get a full work-up. Within 4 hours, I was in a bed at St Josephs in Syracuse getting prepped for a stent. Nowadays, I either walk or walk/run 2-3 miles a day (or comparable exercise) and make a concious effort to spend more time in the fruits and vegetables section of the supermarket as opposed to the frozen, soda and fatty meat sections.
