My family and I are heading to Nashville for a week, in the middle of June, to visit a relative. The relative is a bit of a recluse and a work-a-holic, so she doesn't have a ton of useful info on her home area.

Any recommendations from the forum on what to do while we are there? Interested in hearing about anything. My 17 year old daughter and my wife are going.

Thank you

You have to hit 2nd Avenue one night (maybe more!). Tons of places to eat. Tons of music to listen to. Really, it's the reason most people come to visit Nashville. The Country Music Museum and Johnny Cash Museum are downtown, but I've not been to either of them yet.

If you like barbecue, then Jack's is the place to go. It's served cafeteria style and make sure one of you gets a table while someone else is in line for the food. I'm pretty sure they have a menu online so you can get an idea of what you want before you get there.

The Great Escape LCS used to be on the west side of town right before you get to Vanderbilt's campus. They moved a couple of years ago to way farther out and now it's tough to get to and the whole thing's just gone downhill. Don't even like going there anymore.

Where are you staying? That may help come up with other stuff.

I'm staying at my wife's relative's house. I have no clue as to where it is. I assume it's not too far from the city area. She works at the public library next to the Ryman (according to Google).
I'm sort-of-kind-of tagging along on this trip. It's more of my wife's and daughter's trip. We just have no firm ideas about what to do.

I'm heading to Nashville late in the summer, it will be my first time.  I'm planning to see the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Johnny Cash Museum.  The Country Music Hall of Fame has a Bob Dylan exhibit right now which is extra cool for me. I look forward to reading other recommendations here as well.

This is a really great walking tour of Nashville. The tour guide really knew his stuff. It's rated #1 by trip adviser.

Jack's is right behind (or around the corner from) the Ryman. The Ryman also does pretty cool tours.

Someone mentioned going to the Nashville zoo and the Aquarium in Chattanooga.
I'm not a huge fan of either type of attraction, unless they are really good. Anyone know?
Also, the Cumberland Caverns have been brought up.

The zoo is pretty cool. We go just about every year.

The aquarium is a pretty damn good one. I've been once but my girls have been multiple times and even got to spend the night sleeping under the shark tank once. Keep in mind Chattanooga's a good couple of hours from Nashville, tho.

Here's a guide to some restaurants and night life in a flowchart of what you're interested in eating/drinking/doing from the Kentucky Sports Radio website (as a guide to Kentucky fans going to Nashville for the SEC tournament)

I suspect Chattanooga will be part of my visit.
I'm trying to worm in a Nashville Sounds baseball game. I'm using the local connection trick, since they are an Oakland farm team.
We may go to a show at the Opry (Marty Stuart) or 3rd & Lindsley (Time Jumpers).
Probably do a couple of hikes and my daughter wants to see the Parthenon (she read about it in a Percy Jackson book).
Thanks to everyone for the info.

Oh yeah, we will eat breakfast one day at the Loveless Café.
