Not as good as it could have been! On Saturday PK and I went up to Derby for an estate sale at the former home of one of the owners of Charlton Comics. One of the pieces listed was the original bronze sign that was outside the entrance for decades. Big piece, about 20x30". I promised Paul it would be his b'day present if it was still there.

It wasn't. :-(

However, they told me it had gone to a guy who'd worked at Charlton for forty years or more.

Happy birthday, Paul.

"On Saturday PK and I went up to Derby for an estate sale at the former home of one of the owners of Charlton Comics." - I used to work at the Burger King on the other side of Division Street (on the Ansonia side of the street) during my summers off from UCONN. I was always - fascinated -  as to what might have gone on in that Charlton building; I never actually visited the place, though.

Didn't Paul Kuperberg draw and or write 3D man in the 1970's?  I remember seeing the art in 3D man's short lived book or in Marvel Premiere.  I thought 3D Man was an interesting character and didn't get a chance to develop.

••

You're thinking of Paul's brother, Alan.

Birthday wishes to the author who gave us Crime Campaign and Murdermoon.
I loved those books when I was a kid, and they're overdue for a re-read.

John, how far is Derby from you, and have you figured
out who it was that got the sign? Anything else worth
sharing from the trip? Seems like a neat excursion.
