Since I live here, I've been following this closely.  Love this legislation.

It's almost sad that vaccinations have to be legislated, but with the anti-vaccination point of view seems to need someone else to think for it, what else can you do?

Matt, I would be interested to hear about the arguments being raised against the legislation.

Jim Carrey goes on a full-nutbag rant over SB277. I guess he caught the stupid virus from Jenny McCarthy, might be incurable.

The fact that this lunacy is based on an exposed FRAUD for which the perpetrator went to PRISON renders the "debate" incomprehensible.

I wish every state had such a law.

I think the opposition to the law is rooted in an extreme form of
individualism/libertarianism -- the government shouldn't force me to do
anything (vaccinations for kids, health care mandate, and so on).

However, I believe there is a basic social contract as part of belonging
to a larger community.

Living in L.A., I've been following this as well.

Two friends of mine have a new baby and they're afraid to take her to some
of the beach communities (like Santa Monica) because those cities are
reportedly experiencing small epidemics of diseases among children due to
the lack of vaccinations. Unbelievable!
