Michael,
Obama believes in a big government nanny state. That is socialism to me.
And I believe he is an atheist for the same reason that Bill Maher believes he is an atheist.

Whether he does so or not, that is not Socialism, personal definitions aside.

In the link you provided, Maher doesn't provide any reason why he speculates that Obama is an atheist. Explaining why he thinks Obama would lie about being an atheist is not the same as explaining why he thinks he is one. So again, why do YOU believe Obama is an atheist?
QUOTE:
Of course I don't know where he was born. I don't know where you were born. I don't know where JB was born. I was not there.
I can't guarantee I was born where my birth certificate says. I was kind of small then and drooled a lot. |

By this standard of proof, you don't know much of anything. You don't know that Obama is a real person, rather than being than an actor hired to pretend to be him on TV. You don't know that the continent of Africa truly exists. You don't know how long the United States has been a country, or that Abraham Lincoln isn't just a mythological figure.
And I find it interesting that you are not willing to say that Obama was born in the US because you don't have the positive proof of having been there to witness his birth. Yet you are willing to speculate that he's an atheist with no proof whatsoever. Why the bizarre double standard?

His mother is an American citizen and that's good enough for "me" regardless of what the Constitution says.

How can you claim uncertainty regarding whether or not Obama was born in the U.S., but be positive that his mother was an American citizen?

Jason, without looking it up I couldn't tell you where JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, GHWB, Clinton, or GWB were born.
Do you want to know why I don't know?
It's because I don't give a crap.
The same goes for Obama. I don't give a crap where he was born.

Michael, are you sure you are not the birther? I mean, are you saying his mother is not American?

If you are going to just be snippy and not explain your logic, just let me know now not to waste my time.

Michael, you have already been wasting my time. It was obvious what I meant to begin with.

You might believe that, but your logic really isn't consistent, which is why I was asking you to explain it.

I'm a non-birther two-time Obama voter but I can see that those are two different ideas. American citizens have children in different countries all the time.
Between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, the law specified that if you were born outside of the United States and only one of your parents was a citizen, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least 10 years, at least 5 of which were after the age of 16.
His mother doesn't fit that qualification.
So if you believe that he wasn't born in Hawaii, you can believe that he didn't have legal citizenship, and presumably still doesn't.

Obama believes in a big government nanny state.
So do many Americans. They embrace socialism while claiming to despise it, much the same way they call themselves Christians while violating its teachings on a regular basis.
