When I was a kid I never heard one bad thing about Stan Lee. So I don't know for how long the negativity surround him has been brewing. I'm obviously it had to have been going on when I was a kid. From what I read about Ditko incidents and what is still going on with Kirby. It had to began before my comics reading time.
This saddens me very much. I think the truth about what went on with Stan and the artist. Is probably in the middle of what all sides said happen. I can't see Stan as this bad guy who would try to screw over the people he worked with.
So with Stan at the closing ending of his life's journey I worry that when he passes. He will be remember so negatively just like Bob Kane.
I really hope that isn't the case. There is no doubt in my mind that he is hugely responsible for much of my childhood joy.
What do you guys think? Will this negativity pass? Will Stan be remember with fondness ?

Stan will be remembered as the giant in his field he has been. The negativity has been going on a long time by the same camps and he's still outshining it. His passing will do nothing to increase it. Put simply, he's The Man. He always will be.

Stan Lee's contributions to the industry far outshines Bob Kane's. I wouldn't worry about them being compared.

As Peter Sanderson observed, years ago, if Stan had left and Jack had stayed, we might have an entirely different picture of who was "Good Marvel Daddy," and who was "Bad Marvel Daddy."When Stan is gone, there will be those who continue to tarnish his name -- but those with a broader picture of reality will give him the respect to which he is due.

BTW - Stan was at the SDCC Fox FF/X-Men movie panel, with all the movie stars. There is footage of when the panel ends, 92 year old Stan is shaky on his feet leaving the stage, and only one actor notices and gives him a hand. Shame on the rest of them, but yet another reason to praise Channing Tatum.

I consider Stan to be the PT Barnum of comics. He contributed a lot to the medium, but his salesmanship of the Marvel Comics line is how I think of him.

Because some one sooner or later will get around to knocking Stan. Regardless of what the topic is about. The Stan bashers find someway of bring it back to him.
Interestingly enough in groups or forum that are about Stan. I don't see people bashing Kirby.

Without Stan Lee the last fifty years of comics wouldn't have happened the way they did. He's one of the immortals.

It seems that no one who achieves success is without their detractors, but Stan's legacy is assured. He's one of the giants. The Man indeed!

Only way Stan won't be remembered fondly by most is if some video comes out like Hulk Hogans recent one.
