A reporter and a camera operator were gunned down during a live broadcast this morning in Virginia.  They were doing a feature, a puff piece, on an anniversary.  The reporter was 24 and the op was 27.  The op was engaged and the reporter was ready to move in with her boyfriend, a man who also works at the station.  As of now, no motive and no suspect.

It makes my stomach turn and my blood boil.  They were just doing their jobs.

I watched the video and it is upsetting.  I heard that the shooter is a disgruntled employee.

Waiting now for the NRA and other gun idolators to tell us this would not have happened if the victims had been armed.

Reports are surfacing that this lunatic filmed the attack. I'm sure there would be no time for any one to defend themselves with anything short of weapon drawn and aiming at the potential assailant as they approach. Not a typical state of readiness for a field reporter and camera person.

The shooter had a history of complaining about racism at various news station's he worked at and believed the on air reported he killed was a racist.

So… how long before this horrific event is forgotten and NOTHING is done (again) about these lame gun laws.

This country is tragic with its inability to fix this.

The guns/ gun laws are only part of the problem. The other part is the mental illness these killers possess. Getting stabbed isn't much more appealing than getting shot.

Sandy Hook proved conclusively that nothing will ever be done. The spineless gobs of jelly that pass for legislators in this country would rather see people continue to die, than face the wrath of the gun lobby.

True, but as it's been stated here before, guns are way easier and effective than a knife.

This country is tragic for not addressing mental illness more effectively.

*Edit to add…. WELL-SAID, JB, couldn't agree more!!
