Another question to ponder, "WHAT IF Claremont had left UNCANNY X-MEN instead of Byrne?"••• That wasn't really an option. I felt that Chris was mishandling the characters most of the time. He'd give them dialog that fit how he wanted the scene to play, but not really dialog that fit my concept of the character, or how we'd plotted the scene. Eventually, I found myself realizing that it was Chris' versions that readers were seeing and embracing, and if I didn't like those versions, I didn't like the characters. Not long after that epiphany came "the stump scene" and I'd officially had enough.

That was rather my thought too. I always thought the teacher was part of the class. And I agree that it would have been difficult to include the Professor in the action as portrayed. Cool.

while I normally prefer JB's stuff in B&W, I'd actually be interested in seeing this one in color.•• I'm sure you won't have too long to wait, just as I am sure the various versions we'll see will be a MESS!!! (Dog help us if the "colorists" decide to follow the current vogue and make the dinosaurs brightly colored, with stripes and spots!)

Since it is pretty much inevitable have you ever thought about just packaging a group of them (10 or so) as giant coloring posters for someplace like Toy 'R' Us?
I would have loved something like this when I was little.
Marvel could even do one of the Try-Out contests for colorists.
You wouldn't have had to worry about brightly colored dinosaurs with me, but I did have a problem staying inside the lines. I blame it on the ADHD.

Marvel has the rights to publish, not JB. However, nothing stopping you or anyone else from printing them and breaking out the markers. My kids love to color single figures. But it does mean I keep my commissions out of the reaching hands of children lest they see my stuff as an uncolored poster.

John - Do you ever protect the art while you are working on it so it doesn't smudge? ie: paper under your fore arm.
