Great photo of JB in action. The blacks seem to have an extra pop in that photo and it's impressive to see just how big the artwork is.

"I'm sure you won't have too long to wait, just as I am sure the various versions we'll see will be a MESS!!!"

Ha! I would only want to see a professionally done version (by a professional professional; an actual skilled artist). This piece certainly wouldn't be enhanced by color, but something in my untrained and uneducated artistic brain tells me color would work better in this piece than many other commissions. Don't ask me why.

Not much character overlap, so there wouldn't be the red-on-red etc problem. Maybe you're picking up on that subliminally.

I think you're correct. Looking back at the piece yet again, I also think the inks might be influencing me. The open characters having heavier backgrounds, and vice versa, already gives the piece somewhat of a colored effect. Between those two points, it kind of makes sense to me why my brain might have gone there (at least, as much as anything in my brain makes sense to me).

William, thank-you for posting that photo of JB at work. I -love- seeing that sort of inspiring image.

And again, great commission John.

Seeing how well structured this page is, leaving Professor X out was the way to go. A floating "X the Great and Powerful" head might have been too much. ;)

What a commission. My favourite so far this year.

Just did a quick search on Google, and it seems that no one has decided to smear color all over this piece -- yet. Too intimidating, perhaps?
