From The Washington Post:

"On Thursday, the Republican presidential candidate drew on the familiar verbal instrument [of referencing Hitler and Nazis] to illustrate why he's against more gun control. In the days after the deadly Oregon school shooting, Carson said taking away people's guns means taking away their freedoms, and he suggested an armed German citizenry would have avoided the Holocaust."

Oy!

Ben Carson's entire response to the Oregon shooting has been
repugnant to me, beginning with his pandering "I am a Christian" sign.
So is 70% of the country, dude. If you want to make an actual brave
statement, say that you are parting ways with your party's stance on
gun control and the NRA.

As an aside, reports from other survivors suggest that while the shooter
did ask his victims about their religions, he was shooting everyone, and
he was more likely tailoring his taunts as he shot people, rather than
singling out Christians. I expect Carson to continue capitalizing on the
initial story so that he can brand Christians as a persecuted minority,
since it seems to be working for him.

What's odd is people being surprised when a politician attempts to tell it's party what they think the party wants to hear.

Very classy there David.

Now go back to complaining about racism in America.

Is this the first time the "Red Dawn" mentality has been applied to WWII?

The Oregon shooting was a hate crime against Christians so in context this doesn't seem out of left field.

•••

Resistance fighters in WW2 had something of the RED DAWN mentality working. Of course, those who imagine that to represent a viable scenario tend to overlook the fact that they also had the full might of the Allied forces backing them up.
