Those three panels signify exactly where Superman went wrong during the '70s. The idea that Clark considers himself an outsider, an alien, a stranger is absurd! I don't know what kinda parents this Clark had, but they sure weren't Jonathan and Martha Kent.

JB, forgive me if you've already answered this in some other thread, but is there any prospect of a "Modern Masters John Byrne" book in our immediate future?  [And like the other posters,  I'm indeed looking forward to the Garcia Lopez volume].
