The timing of this statement couldn't have been worse. It would be like saying dirigibles are the best way to travel the day the Hidenberg exploded.••• Which lots of people did for years BEFORE the Hindenberg disaster. Context.

The eye-witness accounts I've been hearing this morning suggest that the Bataclan casualties were largely due to sustained AK47 fire in a crowded, confined space, plus at least one hand grenade — tactics that are mitigated against to some degree by UK firearms laws.

Obviously there will be conflicting reports,i read in various places that after firing into the crowd with the guns, once cornered by Police,at least 2 detonated suicide belts. My worry is,that 7/7 terrorsists killed plenty with homemade devices, just think of the carnage if used in a crowded area.I`m old enough to remember the IRA bombings,Birmingham was one target of atrocity.

This is also by no means certain. A passport was found near remains that might identify those remains as belonging to a Syrian with terrorist links, but it's not at all clear.
Remember that the entire point of this is to prompt the French authorities and general population to a backlash against Muslims, a situation which aids IS immensely by creating fertile ground for still further radicalisation.

The refugees are screwed. No way now that Europe will take them in. But there's nowhere to send them back. So benefits and jobs are denied to them. They end up in shelters which are really de facto internment camps.

I can't believe someone tried to defend Obama's idiotic comment. -- And I can't believe someone is placing the president's statement about a military effort in the middle east (which, granted, may yet prove to be wrong) up against a terrorist attack in France.

Do you think the 50 man military effort has ISIS contained anywhere? I am not surprised at his idiotic statement since it fits with what he said recently that Assad should not be in power because he "kills children", which is interesting since one of his drone strikes blew up a civilian hospital days before he made that statement.

unless it is canceled ...
Yep, they've both cancelled their shows. Along with a host of other bands.

Politifact explains why Obama's comment about Daesh* being contained is true.
*Here's why Daesh is a much better alternative to ISIS/ISIL.

Is there some policy or action that you believe Obama should be pursuing that would have prevented this terrorist attack in Paris? If not, I don't see how attempting to draw a connection between his comment and the attack amounts to anything more than partisan nit pickery.
