Superboy & Krypto… what a great commission, JB. Love the background of Smallville! Brings back memories of GENERATIONS for me. Enjoyed how you incorporated Superboy into those stories.

Beautiful piece!

Love all the little cues the scream "small town."  Almost expect to see a DeLorean somewhere in there...

I often see the world through the filter of comics!
-------------------------

Same here, Robbie - must be all those years of exposure, from an early age .... !

Gee, Smallville really is small (duh!) - love that background, and especially the great countryside beyond the town borders.

Plus, all of those tiny people in front of the Town Hall are just perfect - they're not all fully distinct, but they are nevertheless clearly individuals, and they're ... cheering ! ( current DC, please note !!)

It takes some serious skill ( and years of practice ) to produce a piece that so naturallly balances the main subject(s) with the environment they rightly belong in.

JB - sir - you are a genius !

Edited - hey ! Do I now see a Superman #1 homage going on in Superboy's pose, or is that my imagination ? The position of those arms looks awfully familiar ....

Really love this. Superboy was always a character I liked quite a bit. We could use more like him in the modern DCU.

There is an innocence and nostalgia required for Superboy that has made the
character impossible to depict effectively for more than 30 years now. The
push would be to find the "edge" for him, which wouldn't work.

The SUPERBOY TV show in the 1980s was Superboy in name only. He was
more "young Superman" (college-aged, no longer living with his parents).
SMALLVILLE's Clark Kent was both more physically mature than you'd expect
from Superboy but far less emotionally mature ("our" Superboy didn't really
run from his "destiny" or duties. He had already committed fully to it).
