I've loved Sal's art since I first saw it in a power records Captain America story 40 years ago. Whether it's the most epic Hulk story or the silliest Twinkie ad, his style always satisfies. I've been lucky enough to get to know him these past few years after hiring him to do covers and ink Ron Frenz's pencils for an upcoming line of family-friendly superhero comics. Every time I hang up the phone, I have a huge grin on my face because he is so much fun to talk to about comics or just life stuff. Sal is a phenomenal artist and an even better person. Happy birthday, Sal!

Loved him on ROM, one of my favorites on Hulk or Captain America, thoroughly enjoyed his Defenders and Spider-Man.
His Avengers (inked by Joe Staton) in 1974 was a huge reason that I got hooked on comics in the first place.

Sal could really deliver, although I think some production demands hurt his quality now and then. He did some good work partnered with Steve Englehart on Captain America and his Avengers work was strong. Can't forget the Defenders!
Sal and his brother John are responsible for sharpening my eye in the 1960s. Their styles were so similar I had to consider the differences more than any other artist.
A quick review over at Mike's reminds me of just how many comics I read which were drawn by Sal.

I grew up with his Incredible Hulk! He's an all-time
favourite artist of mine, and one of my favourite single
issues of his was the annual he did that JB wrote. Such
good stuff!

Sal's time on Thor & Spectacular Spider-Man were favorites of mine. I met him at a small convention in Gettysburg in the early 90's. He & his wife were very nice and he did a Spider-Man sketch for me. I hope he had a very happy birthday :)
