Did you use photo reference or did that come out of your head?? •• Both, mostly the latter.

The background is so wonderfully dirty and grimy and perfect, I want to scrub my hands clean after scrolling past it on my phone. Exceptional work, JB.

A few things.
Great commission, there will be a very happy owner.
Is there a vertigo type feeling for tunnels? I am definitely getting that here.
JB: Do you have a special fondness for Iron Fist? I always get the feeling of such joy in the IF commissions.
(Yeah I know it sounds weird)

Do you have a special fondness for Iron Fist? I always get the feeling of such joy in the IF commissions.•• I hope there is "joy" in all my commissions! But, yes, there is a special place in my heart for the K'un L'un Kid. It's something that has mostly grown of nostalgia since I left the book. At that time, I thought I was pretty my done with Danny Rand -- that I had "said" all there was for me to say. That changed when I was allowed to use part of my tenure on NAMOR to undo the (expletive deleted) that had been heaped upon the character since I'd left.

Beautiful work, JB. That background is too good for words. Iron Fist and those poor, misguided fellows being thrashed by the son of K'un-Lun look great, too.
I wish this guy were appearing in the current POWER MAN AND IRON FIST book!

Did you use photo reference or did that come out of your head??•• Both, mostly the latter. ---------------------- Thanks for the answer. Well done -- you seem to have a really good knack of using just enough of the photo reference to inform your art with a sense of verisimilitude without disturbing your overall style at all, so that it's synthesized into a seamless whole with the bits you 'make up'. I have a problem when I draw that my 'made-up' stuff looks clunky compared to the bits where I've used photo reference (or sometimes the other way round). One of the many reasons I'm a dilettante and you're a pro.

Not a lot of black left in your pens after this one! Stunning piece... I like that the setting is not taking a back seat to the action, some wonderful and varied textures going on in this piece and your mastery of perspective really takes center stage WOW! Of course, the character work and action is killer too!
Thanks for providing more inspiration!
