Thanks!

Best hour I spent all day, except for the midget massage I had.

Up for a very limited time, I gather -- I clicked on the link and got a blank
page where the interview should be.
[edit] I interviewed him once with a buddy of mine at JKS for a class:

Well, crap. Apparently I missed it, because I got the same blank page that John Mietus received...

Not only is John Romita, Sr. an incredible artist, but he's also my favorite Spider-Man penciller...

I also missed it, but one of the things I'll never forget was the Jack Kirby tribute panel I attended in San Diego with John Romita on it. He said something I'll never agree with (paraphrasing) "I was really just a hack; Jack and Steve were creators, genius - I just followed them and contributed nothing in comparison."
Needless to say, every other guy in the room told him how wrong he was! John Romita is probably the farthest thing from a hack on comic history - one of the all time best.

The time I met him, he was extremely personable, very well-spoken, and
very humble. He was Art Director at Marvel at the time, and gave us a
quick tour of the "bullpen" as it was at the time. The one thing I
remember was Jim Shooter stomping through the area and people doing
their best to keep a low profile and not make eye contact with him. While
John Romita was very chipper with us, there was a palpable tension in the
Marvel Offices that day. It was maybe a few months or a year later when
Shooter was finally given the boot.

Care to give a recap of the Bullpen experience? I don't know that I've ever heard what it was like there. Maybe JB has given an account before, but I can't remember.

Big room. Lots of cubicles with art tables and people working at them.
Offices all around. When we were there ('88), coloring using computers
was just in its infancy -- I remember an Amiga at one person's cubicle. It
was mostly people doing lettering and coloring, all of whom looked
younger than me at the time (I was in my late '20s). All of them looked
overworked, underpaid and miserable.

I wonder what the Bullpen was like back in the early 60's...
