^To me, that is a perfect summation of the dividing line between what heroes do and what villains do.

A young friend of mine became less interested in the ARROW TV series when Oliver Queen decided to stop killing people, and started taking the high road.

This sort of mentality seems more and more prevalent even in today's youthful segment of fandom, and I find it more than a little worrisome.

This attitude appears to be fueling DC's
current "reboot". They're actually trying
to right the ship. While I'm glad to see
it, (Nu52 Superman kinda became the muscle
bound lunk head civilians this him to be)
time will tell if everyone is truly on
board.

Marvel's Captain America story may wind up
being a good story, but just because you
CAN tell a story, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

DC is trying to "right the ship" that was SUNK by them trying to right the ship. And I'm going back to CRISIS here.

The principle problem is that they don't have the talent or insight to form a truly focused vision. Each time the "clean house" they seem to use the same people, and to demonstrate the same lack of commitment to the mandate. And, to make matters worse, with each new attempt the lawyers and the bean counters involve themselves more deeply with the creative end.

The birth of the Silver Age was successful because it wasn't an exercise in fan-wankery -- but it became one in a relatively short amount of time, and once the dominoes started to topple....
