On Saturday, someone posts about a horrible fatal shooting and now on
Sunday, someone posts about another... IN THE SAME STATE.

It's also possible more people might have died during Friday's shooting if the
shooter hadn't been stopped so quickly (cold comfort to the hero in that
situation, as his sister was the lone fatality).

Madness.

After Sandy Hook we said never again. And then we let 998 mass shootings happen.

A map to illustrate the 998 mass shootings in the US since Sandy Hook:

Makes me sick to my stomach and my blood boil at the senseless death and destruction.

Apparently in about the time it takes to play one song this maniac shot and killed 50 people and injured 53 more, many critically.  How many more thousands of needless deaths will be required before assault weapons are finally taken off the street?  How much blood is enough for congress to be shamed into actually doing something?

After Sandy Hook, some people, rational people, said "Enough is enough!" Unfortunately, heavily armed irrational people said "Sorry about your kids, but I'm keeping my guns."

The spineless slugs in Washington listened to the second group.

Imagine looking at that map and being saddened for Europeans who lack the freedom to make theirs look the same.

Oops, I'll be more careful next time. I was just getting used to the smell of the soap in there.

All kidding aside, it is truly horrible that the US does so little about what is obviously a problem. I fear there will be no traction on this until the generation terrorized by guns is in power. Even worse is the thought that generation has become insensitive to the issue.

The religious "reap what you sow" garbage is the same message being used to justify terrorist attacks against the US. I guess fanatical religious messaging is ignored when it isn't your religion. Violence only leads to the end of the world, plain and simple. The concept that "they had it coming" makes me more angry than I could express. What comeuppance is in store for people that foster murder and hate? I hope one of my future relatives has the chance of enjoying a world without ignorant people. I doubt I will ever see it happen in my lifetime.

To truly understand how powerful the gun lobby is in the US you have to realize that a bill cannot seem to pass when it is designed to stop people known to be terrorists from buying assault rifles on US soil.

The "reap what you sow" makes no sense to me. I choose to go to a club to
meet people and I get shot by a lunatic. How is that what I sowed?
Remember, the lord can see the future. If he/she wanted to stop me from
being gay or going clubbing, he/she could've. He does not need the help of
someone with a gun.

So, if you sow bigotry, you reap...?

I'm hoping that Texas governor guy who posted the "reap what you sow" thing gets an ironic visit from anonymous so we can all see what he's been sowing.

Texas and ISIS. Like that Daryl Hall and John Oates song, "so close, but so far away."

Most of the shootings happen with handguns. The AR ones just make the best headlines so you hear of those more. The shooting of the Voice singer that started this thread was killed with a handgun. It really doesn't matter what the packaging around it is, rifle (assault themed or non-assault) shotgun, or handgun, it can kill just as many. Banning on style of gun only ends up with people finding a way around it.

The more important question is if a 'known terrorist' in on US soil, why are they allowed to walk freely? Shouldn't they be arrested? As for the bill, that would put people that are on the "Terrorist Watch list". The same list that had Ted Kennedy mistakenly being on. There's also a lot of debate on what gets you put on it, as the rules for it are really depending someone just making a decision as the rules are really vague. You'd think they're be hard rules for it as it effects a lot of people that haven't even thought of terror. Not saying there shouldn't be restrictions, I do believe that, but the process should be way more tight than a terror watch list.
