Ugh Matthew that drawing is not to my taste.

For clarity, me neither.
Regarding Wolverine, I meant to say "my biggest gripe" ...

AF # 10 or #12's covers would be fine by this reader.

I hope they don't use the issue #1 art that was used for the first trade paperback - I don't like the art without Guardian's dialogue from the original issue.

Sorry, Tim! The Marvel solicitations for October show the cover, which looks to pretty much be that version (with some modifications). I would rather the dialogue had remained intact.

Thanks, Brandon - that's a bummer.
I like that Marvel reprints JB's work, but the cover choices and general presentation are lacking.

It's truly amazing the number of times I have designed a cover specifically to contain a word balloon, and some mutton head in production has left it off!

Last night I finished #9 (reading the whole series) and am still blown away with the effort you put in writing these characters' backstories. Shaman specifically has SO much going on, it's not hard to see why so many of us treat this book like it's just short of Biblical.

Y'know, I dump on ALPHA FLIGHT quite a lot, but that's mostly because of the art. If I can be forgiven a towering immodesty, when it comes to the writing I DO think I was firing on all cylinders. Probably because it was the first time, professionally, that the characters were truly and wholly MINE. Nobody could tell me I was getting them wrong!

I thought it was a great run, JB, and your writing AND art were exceptionally well integrated. It's not an accident that you stand among the best creators--doing both writing and art on a title--in comicdom.

That ALPHA FLIGHT house ad reminds me of the moment I saw the first issue on the spinner rack. Best value I ever got on anything for $1.25!
I gave up the title as soon as you left, JB, but your run remains one of my favorite experiences reading comics. Looking forward to rereading it in the omnibus edition.
