Invest it, seriously. You can take some and indulge yourself, but it's far more sensible to put money aside for your retirement. Not thrilling, but your 75 yr old self will thank you for being smart.

A bit of "stupid money" came my way so I am finally adding a John Berkey painting to my collection of original art.

This one:

28"x18"

Hey, that's great, JB!  I'm all for using "stupid money" to fund art purchases!  Speaking of which, as soon as I find the right John Buscema piece...

In recent years I have been actively resisting my desire to collect things, like books and comics, art too. In part because I know I could be leaving an onerous task to someone who does not have the knowledge to derive the proper monetary return on the collection or parts thereof. What precautions or instructions is anyone preparing to direct survivors in recovering "Stupid Money"?

Very nice John Berkey piece John, very nice!

When stupid money appears, my #1 choice is travel, following this rubric:

Priority 1: go somewhere I haven't been before but want to see UNLESS I haven't been to New York City in awhile
Priority 2: go for as long as possible
Priority 3: go in as high-class style as possible

I would have to travel. The desire I have to spend as much
time in Florence, Italy would just consume me if I had the
resources.

If any was left over. I'd spend it on original art. There
is a John Buscema page I'd love to find and a commission
from JB I'd request.

Like others have stated, a commission for my nephews and myself.

My grandmother died and, when everything was settled, the five grandchildren were given a very small sum of cash each. It wasn't much but I didn't want to simply absorb it into my or use for the weekly groceries. So I did bought my first page of original art - from JB's TRIO no less. It now hangs in our house and whenever I see it I think of my grandmother.
