So does Parliament have to follow through?

Can't they just say..."Thanks but no thanks. Cheers."?

If Scotland holds another referendum on becoming independent from the UK, and if they did go independent, do they have the resources at the moment to be successful as an independent country?

(And is this all because Scotland wants to stay in the EU, or just another excuse to vote for independence all over since it failed the last time?)

••

Next, Scotland separates from the United Kingdom, and independently joins the EU!

I saw that cartoon earlier and it has been one of my main thoughts over the last few weeks. I guarantee its hypocrisy is lost on many of the Leave campaigners. Why would Scotland require another Independence referendum? Because being part of the EU was one of the promises made by the No campaigners in our last one.

It is also telling that it has been mainly extreme far-right politicians in Europe congratulating the Leave vote. All we need.

Now it is starting to appear that some people voted Leave, but didn't really want to? Really? I despair for this country I really do.

Trump landed in Scotland today and tweeted that we took our country back last night....er, we voted to stay Don, lad.

Also hypocritically one of the Leave messages was the unelected European bureaucrats controlling decisions for us, when in fact most of our laws cannot be decided without a say-so from the unelected House of Lords - but that's okay (no offence intended to our resident Lord here). Apologies for what seems like a rant post, but interestingly enough the first democratic UK vote I ever took part in was for members of the European Parliament...am I dumb or something? What am I missing?

Gordon, I believe that BRexit will be a positive thing for the whole world in the future (not too far I hope).
There is no easy fix for the mess that EU became, but the Brexit is a good start.
I don't trust big government, I don't think big regulations are helping small business.
Time will tell if this is the right move.
Not sure if you watched THIS. If yes, what do you think about it?

Some pointed response to Trump's tweet about the Brexit:

From Lily Allen:  https://www.instagram.com/p/BHCkTBaD5UV/

And some spectacular profanity from sundry (surly) Scots  (found this posted by Wendy Pini on Facebook:    https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/t31.0-8/13482991_101539 48293923369_8381104762969276166_o.jpg

The Leave side seems to already be backtracking on its promise to use the funds it sends every week to the EU to support the NHS.

The Stock Market has reacted as I feared it would, with
greedy cowards prepared to destroy our economy in order to
save their own skins.
********************************

I hear what you're saying, but it is definitely more complex
than that...the value of companies doing international
business dropped by millions today just due to currency
value dropping, and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, a
number of companies probably won't recover. It's a great
time to travel to Europe on an American dollar, but not so
much for the economy, which has already been struggling with
low oil prices. Less concern if you're in it for the long
game...the market will adjust over time, but if you're
looking at tapping into investments in the next year or
so...ouch.
