It was really cool to see Reed seek him out when he was gathering those radiation specialists. Another reason that's one of my favorite issues of yours.

Didn't "The Final Victory of Dr. Doom" in FF annual 2 resolve this? Reed won.

How would Smart Alec stack up against the likes of Doom, Richards, or Octavius?

No one is smarter than Reed...except maybe Doom. Doom is less likely to pursue a problem once he thinks he's figured it out. Therefore, he may be smarter but actually know less.

The only mind close to Reed would be the Hanks..Pym and McCoy.

I wonder who Marvel's smartest woman is? Kitty Pryde? After reading the early Ant Man/Wasp tales I realized it could easily have been Jan, if Marvel ever would have followed up on the hints from Hank back then.

I see Octavius as more of a specialist. Although writers have sometimes fallen back on giving him "a degree in Science," his field is mostly radiation, and I don't think he has the broad palette of Reed or Doom.

I'll always prefer a specialist to a generalist. ;)

No, I'm just being pleasantly facetious. I don't think anyone can match Doom's intellect, certainly not in the supervillain "community".

T'Challa
Tony Stark
Reed Richards
Hank Pym
Bill Foster
Magneto
Victor von Doom
Peter Parker

Plenty of brilliant blokes...but I'm having a tough time thinking of Marvel's heavyweight female brains.  Maybe thats my fault.  So can anyone name at least 3 Marvel women who are known for their intellect?

Jen Walters is a very skilled attorney, but I'm talking genius in the science fields.

Valeria Richards and Alyssa Moy, both from Chris Claremont's FF run,
because of course. Also, Tessa/Sage.

I don't believe Doom is smarter than Reed. I feel that one of the reasons for Doom's hatred of Reed is that Doom believes himself to be the smartest man alive, but Reed's existence puts a question to that.

That noted, I feel "Fantastic Four Annual" #2 answered this question in a brilliant fashion.

Yes, that's "The Final Victory of Dr. Doom" that I was referring to earlier.
