Well, of course no one did anything. That's the whole fucking point of the 2nd Amendment, isn't it? This disgruntled staffer is obviously anti-American and should be kicked out of the country for complaining about guns.

Thing is, and this applies to politics here too, I want my politics to be boring. I want boring discussions about policy, economics, job creation, funding police forces, etc.

If I want entertainment, silliness and other bizarre stuff, I'll visit a circus. Or watch THE MAGIC ROUNDABOUT. Or hang around a bar before closing time. I can get entertainment there.

I don't want entertainment, silliness and quirky stuff in politics. It's a distraction and it's worrying. The more boring and charisma-free a politician is, the safer I feel. I want someone composed, quiet, articulate and boring in control of nuclear codes and billion-pound/dollar budgets.

Seems the only folk that benefit from the likes of Trump are headline writers and 24-hour news channels.

It's funny that you should write that Robbie. I was thinking this morning that he is the Vince McMahon of politics.

Anthony, have you seen this?

Yeah Mike I saw that. We all would have been better off if Trump would have stuck to wrestling. At least there it is harmless entertainment.

I'm reveling in the irony that the gun nut Trump people are crying boo boo over the fact they had a gun pulled on them. And by one of the "good guys" no less.

A hilarious skit with Robert Smigel's Triumph The Insult Comic Dog staging a focus group with Trump’s biggest supporters being shown fake campaign ads.

Life imitates art. We have spent several decades now training public figures how to behave on CNN. The Cult of Personality has become the only cult in town. And so we get Donald Trump, who is wall-to-wall personality.

I'd agree with that.

Can't speak for the US, but years ago the only visual/audio news here were two bulletins a day on the BBC (maybe a quick bulletin at lunchtime) and hourly two-minute updates on the likes of BBC Radio 4. Now, with 24/7 news, they're doing exactly what you describe.

It's amazing how many people hate Trump.  I'm at the Illinois State Fair right now and at the hotel I'm at they play CNN on a tv screen where breakfast is served.  The entire room of people groaned when he appeared on TV. Followed by by many derogatory comments.

I wish it was that way here. He's a god to these people.
