Hitler was also a racist to the core, whereas Trump strikes me as a cynical man who is willing to pretend to be a racist to gain racist support. I think it's enough to say that Trump is an ignorant, arrogant man who lacks the knowledge, experience, and temperament to be a competent President. We don't have to liken him to a genocidal dictator who was responsible for the deaths of millions and the worst war (in terms of overall casualties) in history.

I agree, Jason.
Part of Trump's appeal (and what makes him a risk) is that he's not racist or sexist in an ideological sense (like Cruz is ant-gay or anti-trans in an ideological sense). I also don't think his racism or sexism or xenophobia is cynical or inauthentic.
Since Obama's election in 2008, I've had a significant number of (white) friends who are shocked to learn that they have an Uncle or Aunt Donny (sometimes it's even their own parents). They believed Obama was a secret Muslim out to destroy America. They believed in death panels. They believed there was a War on Christmas and every other FOX News paranoia. But they were also loving decent people -- the people who taught them to ride a bike or took them to see their first movie or bought them a Transformer for Christmas (one of the cool ones!). So, most families just agreed to "never discuss politics" and just happily trim the tree. And 8 years later, they are somehow shocked that Trump is the nominee of a major political party.

Trump relied on a ghost for The Art of the Deal. Hitler wrote Mein Kampf himself (or at least dictated it; they're all his words).

I'm okay with somebody likening Trump to Hitler if they're okay with my likening Hillary to Rasputin.

If Trump truly believed Muslims were evil or that all Muslims posed an imminent threat to the US, he wouldn't be happily soliciting their business for his US-based hotel properties. It's things like this that lead me to conclude that he's a cynical exploiter of racism rather than a genuine, deep-seated racist.
I think that at bare minimum a person should be advocating genocide and massive territorial invasions/warfare before we bring in the Hitler analogy.

I really don't understand liberals worrying about Trump with his finger on the nuclear button.
Hillary is the warhawk. Trump is pretty much an isolationist.
The combo of Obama and Hillary was a nightmare. She pushed him to get involved in Libya and Syria and then he half-asses it.

I get what you are trying to say, but I'd argue that someone who'd exploit the racism in others in that manner is still pretty racist.

"Hillary is the warhawk. Trump is pretty much an isolationist."
This is one of the few things I really like about Trump. Both left and right actually want foreign conflict; they just differ on the exact goal and approach. However, I what I don't know is Trump's commitment to "isolationism". As president he could later flip and become a superhawk. If anything, Trump is the very definition of unpredictable.

I consider myself an isolationist, and I don't think there is any real way to make it work.

Some scary possibilities floating about, folks:
The most frightening part of this is that nothing about it seems all that far-fetched, IMO.
