Well, of course not. But with almost weekly terrorist attacks, cops with itchy trigger fingers, and the improbable but increasingly tangible Trump presidency ... it sort of feels like a dress rehearsal.

End of Days, d00d. I've been saying it for months.

Wait. The world didn't end in 2012?
Let me check my Mayan calendar!

I'm not feeling a bit of panic. I know the end must come at some time. But when it does, we won't have a clue, I suspect. And it'll be a whimper, not a bang.
Plus, I don't think Trump stands a chance.
Clearly... I'm in deep denial.

Maybe not the end of the world, but as R.E.M. phrased, "The end of the world as we know it". Things are changing all over the world, and not for the better.

I think there's a far better chance of JB returning to Marvel and also doing the convention circuit than there is in Trump winning.

I can think of few other examples where institutions with a 100% failure rate garner any attention. A team that loses every game might get a story in a sports page, or a company going belly up shows up on Bloomberg, but nothing to match the fervent, seething devotion that end time believers deliver. A person who fixates on the destruction and judgment of the world probably shares a lot of characteristics with someone obsessed with fires or car crashes, but I bet not many researchers would want to tackle that project.

I thought the world was supposed to end last month when the U.K. voted to leave the EEC? ;-)

Bill, the EEC no longer exists and the UK was not voting on leaving it.

Dark and unpredictable times. But I'm sure they were having these sorts of conversations on the JBF back in the 1940s, 1930s, etc. ;)
