Had one of those depressing moments, realizing that Archie being born in 1937 means that statistically he'd most likely be gone now, anyway.

Life sucks.

It sounds banal, but life is life.

What makes life suck is the same thing that gives it worth -- that we can appreciate loss is what makes us value the other swing of the pendulum.

And that is SO intrinsic. I'm so tempted to say: "It would be nice to have that appreciation when we're younger,", but part of what makes life NOT suck when we're younger is that we have that liberty of not worrying about the downsides of growing older.

Of course, you could sum that up in precisely your two-word phrase...

Hey Andrew:

Found it! This issue was a big deal to me at the time, since I was so blown away by the above piece of art, plus a glimpse of the current Storm by JB (unfettered by Janson's finishes, to boot).

It also showed me that JB read or at least had access to current issues of Marc Silvestri's X-MEN run, since he gave her the hairstyle that had only just recently appeared (and curiously Janson reverted to her regular style for some reason).

Sounds like yet another example of someone in editorial ordering something "fixed" and thus making it wrong!

Thanks, Vinny! Wow, that takes me back. COMICS SCENE was a fun gig, and led to my brief career working for Jim Lee at WildStorm.
Meeting Archie Goodwin was certainly one of the best things to come from that bit of my professional life.
