Trevor, I disliked it before. Now, I truly loathe that song.

Then you are not a human being, Brian Miller.  ;)

But I digress...

Looked great!  More of the same that I loved from the first film, so I'm looking forward to diving into this sequel.  I'll be first in line!

The first Guardians of the Galaxy is probably my favorite super hero movie of all time.

***

Is GOTG a superhero film anymore than, say, Star Wars is? Not being pedantic, just genuinely wonder what others think?

I don't know if I'm looking forward to this, but I was the one who enjoyed the characters and story in the first movie - but was enraged and filled with loathing that it was called "Guardians of the Galaxy" or that the characters had the names that they did. (Okay, it's hard to get around Rocket Raccoon...)

But since my mom and my wife enjoyed the first movie so much, I'm going to see this second one anyhow. Pray for me, brethren and sistern!

It is a fine line when you have aliens with abilities beyond those of normal humans in a science-fiction based film. I qualify STAR WARS, the original trilogy, as more science-fantasy, not a superhero film. However, the prequels made the Jedis out to be more than just space wizards with mind-over-matter abilities, and that elevation in powers sure made them seem more like superheroes.

I would still say that GUARDIANS of THE GALAXY are sci-fi/fantasy superheroes more than STAR WARS, but I can see how the lines are blurred.

One of the smart things Marvel has done is make superhero films with variety.  WINTER SOLDIER is basically a spy thriller; the THOR films are fantasy; ANT-MAN is a comedy; and GUARDIANS is a space opera.   But they're all still superhero movies, at least IMO.

Was just thinking today, Thom, that if they ever (finally) made a solo BLACK WIDOW movie, it'd be great if they tried to make it as close to a female "James Bond" action/adventure as they could get away with, perhaps with a bare-minimum of superheroics and Marvel cameos, and even more grounded and believable than THE WINTER SOLDIER!

SWEET never seem to go out of style, do they?

I would have preferred "Love Is Like Oxygen" (see page 1 of this thread), but still happy to hear they're on the soundtrack!

Great trailer, too. The whole family will be there next summer!

Is Baby Groot taking the place of Ben Grimm and walking a bomb into Ego's core?

This looks amazing! Between this and Thor 3 next year, Marvel is going to have a great cosmic 2017!

I'm gonna call it now and predict that VOL. 2 will be the biggest comicbook movie of 2017, and will be the #2 film for the year, right behind STAR WARS, EPISODE VIII.

Great trailer. Baby Groot is cute but Drax's reaction to Mantis exposing Star-Lord's secret is too funny.

Gunn brings "cosmic" 70s MARVEL to life!

Aaand that atomic bomb sequence looks like JB's FF EGO story!

I wish he could use Galactus.

Watching Galactus face off with anyone other than the FF would just seem...wrong...to me.
