Mr. Byrne, you wouldn't have been surprised by the content. But the bitter, ironic comedy that Donald Trump performed was entertaining. Not funny, but fun - this clown is THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. I cannot imagine any Republican wouldn't repudiate their nomination of him after last night, but of course, party line, party line, party line.

#Robbie Parry: "At one point, I thought it might have been his less-confident twin brother."

It's that swingin' sweetie Darnell Trump, idol of millions and champion of the cool cats all over this great nation! Hang loose, true believer, and watch Dashin' Darnell rock this country to a brand new groovy beat!

(With all apologies to Mike Murdock...)

We've adopted a junk yard mentality, as a nation. Everyone is afraid of
having something taken away that they've become desperate and
fearful, clutching it close. Fear and desperation are very easily
manipulated. Anger is much more comfortable of an emtorion to
express.

I seriously don't understand how someone CAN take Trump seriously
after this debate.
He was clearly on the edge of exploding several times.

Those that did likely already made up their mind. I can't contemplate someone going into this debate that is sitting on the fence regarding their decision.

I am disappointed in one acquaintance. Her 11 year old son was given the homework assignment to watch the debate and write down positives and negatives. She was offended that such an assignment was given and is writing a stern note to the teacher as she believes such an assignment should not have left the classroom. My ten year old was given a similar assignment and I thought it was a fantastic exercise.

I live in Texas so it doesn't really matter which way I vote.

That, right there, shows what is wrong with your system. That you can even say that paints the US in a bad light. :/

Similar here, too. I live in a safe seat. Has been the province of one party for decades. Never changes. No-one else other than the Labour Party has a chance here.

Every vote should count in a hypothetical decent system, right?

What amazes me, is that anyone, much less the not-insignificant number of people who thought Trump won the debate.  On Social Media, and even reaction from sources out of the country.  Note the guy from Australia who thought Trump "Aced it" here.  Or the guy from Japan who though Trump "unexpectedly acted Presidential."   --um, what?

My father used to say that the Electoral College was created because the Founding Fathers didn't believe We, the People were smart enough to elect George Washington on their own.

It is, indeed, a ridiculous, antiquated and frustrating system. I've lived in Connecticut for more than 30 years, and for a good portion of that, I thought of myself as a Republican* and it was most annoying to know my "one man, one vote" meant nothing, since the state always went Democratic. In 28 years as an American citizen my vote has counted only twice, both times for Barack Obama. And that only because I was voting with the majority.

_______________

* They finally wore me down. When I moved into this house, I registered as an Independent.

The Electoral College is also likely to be the best defense to prevent us from being dumb enough to elect Trump!

Clinton 1 Trump 0, they're both zeros. Sadly I need to decide which one makes a larger circumference.

True. It kept us from electing Gore, after all.

Since it's always fun to summarize things in Trump-style Tweet-speak ...

Crooked Hillary rigged the debate with her knowledge and preparation! Unfair!
