Why change anything? MPD/DID is rarer than we thought... but if something is rare, it exists.
I mean, we're talking about someone who can fly at super speed, and works with a guy in a super evolved skintight electromagnetic power suit, a woman who is half human, half goddess, an honest to God* native American shaman, and a fellow who can transposit into a gigantic orange beast with super strength...
And her having a very rare personality issue is the UNBELIEVABLE part?!?!?
*Yes, of course, deity joke intended.

I'm going to go out on that limb and say that JB may have
titled this as a hint to what we were getting into if we
clicked the link.
People who have been repeatedly victimized by these so-
called "Schizos" should feel some sense of vindication.
The guilt that families and loved ones are burdened with
due to what may have just been someone pulling a fast one
to get sympathy/gain favor/escape incarceration for
wrongdoing can be overpowering.

The obvious choice is to go back to Marvel and write a
storyline wherein Jean Paul accuses her Psychologist of
planting the notion that she's MPD. The Doctor is then found
to be the murderer of the twins' parents, and that Jean
Marie was present upon their death, and needed to be
manipulated by deep hypnosis. She eventually undergoes
rehabilitation and is found to not only NOT to be Jean
Marie, nor Aurora, but, someone rather pleasant and normal.
Her powers revert back to pre-mini-skirt levels and the toys
are back in the box.

Multiple personality disorder unquestionably exists in the Marvel universe, as scientifically sound as Jesus Christ and leprechauns, and that's good enough for this reader.
Of course, they could always retcon every MPD story to have been about a manipulative asshole faking it, but that may be a little much for even today's Marvel.
