You reject much of my premise, Kevin, then turn around and agree with most of it?

And I'm sure Bush did think it was part of a "greater good," just like he thought there wouldn't be many casualties, that we would be greeted as liberators, that it would spread democracy in the Middle East, and that Saddamn had WMDs.

Some people can justify anything in their tiny minds.

. Seems Rex Tillerson’s first job will be to find qualified and experienced officials to manage the State Department’s vital offices.

Qualified and experienced aren't exactly on this administration's hiring checklist.

Don, I was being facetious in my comment to you about the "alternative facts".

Kevin: Far closer than many realize.

Trump is far closer to a Hitler figure than many realize? Really? He presents
much to oppose and leaves damage in his wake, but how is he far closer to
Hitler than many realize?

I find the comparisons of Trump to Hitler a bit hyperbolic.

I think he's more Nixon minus the skill in foreign affairs.

I think our society is FAR closer to revisiting uglier times than anybody wants to admit.

This quote from a book that chronicled the rise of the Nazi party and how it happened right in front of the German peoples eyes.....

"On this new level you live, you have been living more comfortably everyday, with new morals, new principles.  You have accepted things you would not have accepted five years ago, a year ago, things that your father, even in Germany, could not have imagined."

 -  Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free: the Germans 1933-45

We are CLEARLY accepting things we would not have just a decade ago.  Something is changing and our government is playing a very dangerous game.  I simply don't think our elected officials are in 'control' of a damn thing these days.

We better start thinking the worst is possible, before we find out its inevitable.

Remember, at first Hitler just wanted the Jews out of Germany. At first.

Once he gained his power, after massacring many of his enemies, one of the first things Hitler did was discredit the media.  What has Trump been saying?  "Fake news!!!"

Then Hitler silenced scientists and government employees.  Trump has banned such government agencies such as the EPA and USDA from communicating with the public.

With his current Presidential order about immigration, I fully expect to see hate crimes increase that at some point civil liberties might be ended or severely decreased in some way.

How long before those people he has demonized (gays, women, disabled, Muslims to name a few) are considered less that human and all rights are stripped away?

I mentioned that his rhetoric was very reminiscent of Hitler and I was taken to task over it.  Yes, Trump hasn't taken to executing his enemies, but he's made veiled threats.  Nor do I think he'll eventually toss all the "undesirables" into a camp.  But he is well on his way to something eerily similar.....

The Trump administration plans on releasing daily reports of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants.

Add that onto the ever growing list of crap that should scare the hell out of you.

But there are key distinctions at work.  Give me a second to clarify.
