Alex Trebek would be too classy to comment.

The difference between Elliot Richardson and William Barr is that Richardson was an honorable man that believed a criminal's position in government did not supersede the law or justice.

I would say that Stone learned quite a bit from being close to the Nixon/Agnew administration. He figured out that the AG needs to be in your pocket in order to avoid getting caught as criminal in the White House.

I heard that Trump was promoting Goya products, but I'm sure it's just a joke because no President would be stupid enough to do something like that!

We seem to be at the beginning of a test case. Unidentifiable, presumably US military, are apprehending US citizen protesters and whisking them off in civilian vehicles. I call it a test case because this kind of activity is most likely being floated to see if it could be rolled out nationally. Pure speculation on my part, but if you were going to postpone the election in November then you would need some extremely threatening tactics to quiet the protests and prevent them from escalating. I wonder which state will win the US gulag contract.

You want Goya beans comment? Okay. What's the difference between a chickpea and a Goya bean?

The president never had a Goya bean on him before.

As Eric Ladd said, "militarized federal agents" appear to be at work in Portland Oregon, according to our local news media:

I either read it somewhere (or someone mentioned it in the forum), but the more left-leaning Republicans and the more right-leaning Democrats should form up and work on a central third party. It would be difficult since the two-party system is so entrenched but I imagine there would be a large demand for something like that. Voters disillusioned with Trump and voters not impressed by the possible turn to the left with the Democrats might flock to it.

A third party seems good in theory, but with the winner take all election it is hard to put a third horse in the race With the current system. Especially when voters typically reduce their choice down to a single issue. I know two people that voted for Trump on single issues; money and abortion. One person was pro life (anti abortion is my term for it) and I question them on his sanctity of life in light of the pandemic response. She is a retired nurse so even the mask issue turns her away from her 2016 voter cohort. The guy that voted for Trump because he would put more money in his pocket might do it again despite me asking “at what cost” to his assertion about money.

I don’t see these simplistic views about political leadership getting better if the system has an additional choice. I could be wrong, but if voters are not engaged beyond a single issue then they will just flip a coin if there are two candidates with the same view on that one issue. Although, there must be lots of people out there that long for a Bush/Reagan Republican even though their track records suck. Again, good in theory, but only if you change many other aspects of the system.
