Missing the point, David T. Pick another war torn non-US city. I'm emphasizing that the USA has to be a VERY undesirable place to visit now to non-US citizens. And ESPECIALLY to be here and have to be guests of President Murder.

Kanye West Announces 2020 Presidential Run
If this actually goes anywhere, I think he could upend Biden. I'd vote for Kanye as a protest vote.

Protest against what? The continued existence of the human race? Any vote not for Biden in November at this point is a vote for Trump.

A celebrity with no proven, working knowledge of the global or domestic political mechanisms; with a history of erratic behavior, voitile relationships and well documented narcissistic incidents........ why not vote for Kanye and what could possibly go wrong?

Agreed. I have the same feelings towards those who don’t like trump or Biden and plan on not voting...

It does seem that it has been a remarkably long time since a third party candidate had a realistic chance at the presidency. Possibly John Anderson back in 1980, and even then, I doubt he would've been elected. Since then, there have been a few third party choices - Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, one or two others, even Bernie Sanders in a way - who may have been good men who would have been good presidents. But the problem is that they had no support; if one isn't the Republican or Democratic candidate, one isn't going to win.
The problem isn't with the candidates; the problem is with the system. Democracy should allow for any number of parties to present viable candidates. But only two are presenting electable candidates. Among m any other issues, it means that if one doesn't vote for one of those two - then it's a wasted vote.
I know what SHOULD be, but I also know what is. For the time being, if one does not vote for Biden, then they are voting for Trump, no matter what they think. One votes for Biden, or that vote goes to Trump. Perhaps sometime in the future, there will be such a groundswell grass roots movement that it will change. But until then... let's not be blind about it.

Eric, there has NEVER been a time in US history when a third-party candidate has had a realistic chance at winning the Presidency. Never. The system is simply not structured to allow that to happen. Even if a third party candidate manages to do exceptionally well in the popular vote (such as Roosevelt in 1912, polling 27% to Wilson's 41%) the Electoral College system makes it impossible for them to come close to winning. Voting for a third party candidate in a Presidential Election has always been the functional equivalent of not voting.

Most recent significant example of this - Perot '92 got nearly 20% of the popular vote, but absolutely 0% of the Electoral College vote - plus we were left with a situation where more people did not vote for the winning candidate than did.
'92 was the first year that I was old enough to vote, and I voted for Perot. Ah, the folly of youth....
