Hello all,

Recently I have reading all of the old Star Wars Newspaper comics again that were published during 1979 to 1984, really enjoying the feeling of nostalgia again because of the excitement and adventure these portrayed, and feeling pf being from a more honest, optimistic, and innocent time. (heh member berries)

Al Williamson and Archie Goodwin's run is of course a classic, good writing in general and such eye on detail and style of everything.
But I also really enjoy Russ Manning's Star Wars comics, and don't hold one over the other.

His style is a perhaps a bit simpler and more reminiscent of a 50s comic but it worked very well in the format in which these comics were first published.

The most I was disappointed with was the comic adaptation of "Han Solo at Star's End".
The artist on that may be a professional but that does not mean that I like how he drew the characters or the ships.

Are there any other people here who also still enjoy these comics as much as I do?

Also, what other Star Wars book and comic publications do people here enjoy?
This is my own list of comics and books:

Comics

Classic Star Wars
Star Wars Devilworlds
Star Wars Droid comic Brian Daley worked on
X-Wing comics
KOTOR prequel comic series
Dawn of the Jedi
Knight Errant

Books

Edit: The Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley *
The Thrawn Trilogy
The Hand of Thrawn Duology
The Young Jedi Knights series

I have not read everything of the Legends books and comics yet so I am bound to add a few more titles to this list.
(I really don't care about the new canon Expanded Universe)

* Forgot all about this one.

I'd recommend the first 'LEGACY' comic series. And the NEW JEDI ORDER book series.

I tried the first Legacy series but I honestly don't like the protagonist (he's an asshole), and having yet another Star Wars setting in which a Sith Empire ruled the galaxy once again also becomes rather repetitive.

As for the New Jedi Order, it felt like the writers wanted to deconstruct the Star Wars setting, killing characters, seriously messing up certain planets.
And I really don't like the Yuuzhan Vong and all their organic technology mess.
