It looks like I'm going to be getting a couple of Omnibi next year.  DC just announced Kamandi #1-40, all of Jack Kirby's issues, in one huge Omnibus in July.  This is one month after another big one, the Doom Patrol Omnibus that's going to include the entire Silver Age run.

This is a DC reprint policy that I can definitely get behind.

That's a must-have for me. It was published a little before my time, and I've never gone back and picked up any of the back issues, so I've not read very much at all of Kamandi.

It's been a great time to be a Kirby fan over the last few years, as there have been some great collections of his work being published.

DC has been getting a lot better at reprints. It seems like someone finally told them they have stories from before COIE. They've been releasing golden age Batman/Superman omnibuses pretty rapidly too.

I wonder if this will be on glossy paper. The two Kamandi omnibuses that DC have already released are on a rough stock which works far better for me.

I have that first volume, and it's beautiful. The paper is perfect!

They did it for all the Kirby stuff released around that time and it was wonderful.

It's a shame though because you never know how DC are going to reprint these materials. JB's Man of Steel collections are on a rough stock but some books I've gotten collecting from the same era have been on this awful glossy but limp stock.

Speaking of reprinting and Kirby, I think it's about time they reprinted the Fourth World Omnibuses or gave us a new edition in one volume. I'd rather not pay the $150+ per volume they are asking for on ebay. There's no earthly reason why the Fourth World shouldn't be constantly in print like Watchmen or Dark Knight Returns.

I like how that description for the Doom Patrol omnibus manages to mention that Grant Morrison wrote the book 20 years later.

Well Jason, Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns are graphic novels while the Fourth World stuff are just comic books.

I was pretty much satisfied by the Kirby collections DC put out a few years back, with all the Fourth World issues in chronological order, and reproduction that closely mimicked the original letterpress. THAT'S how Silver and Golden age reprints should be handled!

If they print it on the paper that looks like the old comics I am in.  Hate the glossy paper.
