So somebody made a whole movie out of the cover of WEIRD SCIENCE 20?

With a homage to The Shining.

It's weird... I should have thought 'The Shining' as soon as I saw the Michael Sheen character, but I actually flashed instead on the robot bartender from Douglas Adams's "Startship Titanic" game.

Actually, maybe that shot is the desk clerk?  It's been about 20 years!

I thought it would be some kind of twist, but according to the reviews I've read, "50 Girls 50" played as romance is the actual premise of Passengers. It's a sign of the end times when Hollywood adapts EC -- "but with a heart!"

All I know is, if you cast two of the biggest, prettiest movie stars on planet Earth at the moment, in a science-fiction film where it's mostly ONLY about them, you can be damned sure any real, plausible science is going to take a seat far, FAR back at the bus.

For those curious about the cover that JB is referencing...

Saw the trailer, and it looks extremely dull. Plenty of cliche dialogue in the trailer alone.

I guess after Suicide Squad's attempt to make homicidal abusiveness romantic, it was just a matter of time before we saw a big screen romance based on stalking and abduction.  But, hey, he's cute and charming, so its fine.

Isn't that the plot of TWILIGHT?

This movie is pretty, and that's about it.
JLaw IS great, but this was a complete waste of time.
The ethical problem is not dealt with at all IMO.
ALSO, no swearing?
I call bullshit.
Man butt, side boob, sex scenes, but attempted and completed crimes
against humanity, and not one FBomb from the victim?
Pulled me so far from the story, I was just staring into JLaw's eyes for
the rest of the film.
Pratt is so vanilla, buff, Everyman it's offensive.
Fishburne is great, so there's that.....
Waste Of Time.

Saw this last night. Had a free movie ticket. Worth every penny! Not a complete waste of time.

No F-Bomb is a perk of being PG-13. I tend to think PG-13 has been bad for movies overall. Everything is over the top violence.

I enjoyed Pratt. For a movie that felt way to long. I felt like the could have focused on different things and still had things turn out OK. Less Pratt and more Lawrence would have been good. More time acting instead of just interaction with the environment.

The ending was crap.
