Saturday, January 7

  • Raiders (5th seed) at Texans (4th seed) - Turnovers may decide this one, especially if it's a low scorer.
  • Lions (6th seed) at Seahawks (3rd seed) - Lions picked a bad time to slump - or did they just have a difficult schedule?

Sunday, January 8

  • Dolphins (6th seed) at Steelers (3rd seed) - Revenge!  Wanda!
  • Giants (5th seed) at Packers (4th seed) - Game of the week?  Going with home field advantage on this one.

Texans - if Carr wasn't hurt, it would be a different story

Seahawks - Hope I'm wrong, as I'd like a decent playoff run for the suffering Lions fans.

Steelers - the Dolphins stink.
Packers - the Giants aren't as good as some people think they are, and this one's at Lambeau.

(Am going to rub it into the faces of some Giants fans I have on Facebook who keep posting anti-Cowboys crap if the Packers do win.)

Saturday, January 7

  • Raiders (5th seed) at Texans (4th seed) - I didn't watch, but will Carr's backup be able to win in the playoffs?
  • Lions (6th seed) at Seahawks (3rd seed) - I trust them more than the Lions...

Sunday, January 8

  • Dolphins (6th seed) at Steelers (3rd seed) - Hoping for a makeup of that poor performance earlier in the season...
  • Giants (5th seed) at Packers (4th seed) - It's at Lambeau, I have to think they'll want to win their one home playoff game...

The last two times it was a Lambeau  it ended well for the Giants....

I think the homes teams win (Texans, Steelers, Seahawks, Packers).

I doubt any of these teams makes the big game, except the Seahawks who win big games for no good reason.

Probable Super Bowl: Falcons v Patriots.

My wish would be more like Lions and Chiefs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Giants defense is good enough to take it to any team in the NFL. The offense is another story.  It all rests on Eli's shoulders. If he can get in playoff mode. He is more than capable of beating anyone in the playoff's. He has proven that on more than one occasion. This certainly hasn't been a good year for him tho. So anything can happen. If he can atleast play error free football. The Giants have a chance.
My report, week 17 results and final standiings are online, let's get back to picking !!!
This is a bad year for wild card week-end...
Saturday, January 7
  • Raiders (5th seed) at Texans (4th seed) : The Texans suck at QB...Raiders haven't one anymore...
  • Lions (6th seed) at Seahawks (3rd seed) : 12th man ? Come on Lions, you can do it !
Sunday, January 8
  • Dolphins (6th seed) at Steelers (3rd seed) : very close for LeVeon / Ajayi...but I can't pick Moore on Ben
  • Giants (5th seed) at Packers (4th seed) : brings back memories...I want my Pats-Giants SB rematch !
Saturday, January 7
  • Raiders (5th seed) at Texans (4th seed) Possibly the best game of the wkend as two gimped, flawed teams match up nicely.  Raiders went from tied for best AFC record to 5th seed in record time.
  • Lions (6th seed) at Seahawks (3rd seed) Lions also crashed in breathtaking fashion.  Seattle imperfect too but better @ home.
Sunday, January 8
  • Dolphins (6th seed) at Steelers (3rd seed) Steelers quietly one of the top 2nd half teams, ripping off their last seven.  Dolphins may have benefited from a weaker schedule.
  • Giants (5th seed) at Packers (4th seed) GB snatched the NFC North in their finale but it seems unfair the Giants (7-1 at home) have to go to Lambeau when their record was better, especially since the winner of their division (Dallas) is a team they beat twice.  Fair or not, Green Bay keeps their crazy streak intact.
Saturday, January 7
  • Raiders (5th seed) at Texans (4th seed)- This should've been the Raiders year. I'll give them 1 win in the playoffs.
  • Lions (6th seed) at Seahawks (3rd seed)- Lions win a playoff game and Mephisto gets frost bite!
Sunday, January 8
  • Dolphins (6th seed) at Steelers (3rd seed)- I had a hard time picking either of these teams right this year, but c'mon man Steelers got to win against a Tannehill-less Dolphins.
  • Giants (5th seed) at Packers (4th seed)- Somebody has got to beat the Packers......Please!!
I'm going a bit unconventional.  The Steelers during the Tomlin era have shit the bed in the postseason on a number of occasions. I think Moore is a competent QB and their D is legit.  Upset!
Not a lot of competitive games... the Giants thoroughly outplayed GB for 28 out of 30 minutes and had to be deflated when Rodgers burned them for two late TDs (esp. the hail mary) and the 14-6 lead.  The Pack dominated the 2nd half and got an impressive win (Dallas is happy).
Steelers really dominated Miami and the Seahawks were all over Detroit.  The only game really in doubt in the 4th was the Raiders and Texans, but Cook was never able to get untracked so even that game wasn't that interesting.  4-0 for me on the week.
The Giants wide receivers were terrible. They let the rest of the team and we fans down. Eli was playing a good game.  The defense was outstanding as usual. But the receivers could catch a friggin cold.
Dammit.  I should have kept with my original guess of a home team sweep this weekend.
3-1 for the wildcard round.  BTW I thought it was one of the most boring weekends of pro football I've seen in a long time.  All four games were blowouts.  The only one that had a modicum of drama was Giants/Packers, but then the second half started and the G-Men shit the bed.  Here's hoping round two is much more engaging.
The Saturday games were AWFUL.  The Sunday games were all about fights and tantrums and Le'Veon Bell's franchise record rushing.  Pittsburgh's offense dominated early and defense dominated after but unless you follow the Steelers it wasn't much.  Also, since I wrote them off after the Baltimore loss I cannot officially celebrate the win.
