Well, at least they revealed that the "Miss Grundy" Archie was having an affair with is not the real Grundy.  That's one "Ick" rescinded.

What was she, a skrull? Is this one of those "um, not really!" things super-hero shows do when they give us a full season of Jimmy Olsen and then tell us later that it wasn't THE Jimmy Olsen but rather his older brother/cousin/DNA Project Clone? Is there a "Crisis of Infinite Grundys" in the offing here?

People really seem to like this show but I have zero interest. Have I finally become the proverbial grumpy old man?

I really like this show.  (I am in my 40s.)  I think the writing is melodramatic, the acting (by some) is really good.  Not every movie or TV show needs to be super serious.  It's ridiculous and over the top.  It's a fun show (like a guilty pleasure).

I read Archie comics growing up and my favorites were the "serious" ones where Archie and the gang were trying to solve a crime or catch the criminals.  That's what this show reminds me of.

But it is totally bubblegum brain-dead fun.  Nothing wrong with that once in a while.

"What was she, a skrull?"

"Miss Grundy" turned out to be a young woman on the run from her abusive ex-husband, and she stole the identity of an elderly woman who died years earlier.  So, instead of the classic Miss Grundy having an affair with Archie, we find out from an old newspaper clipping that she's dead instead.

And Mr. Lodge is nowhere to be seen (he's in jail for financial fraud), but his wife is a big part of the show.

So, that's two big characters missing.  And Kevin Keller is a stereotypical TV promiscuous gay guy--I wonder how gay rights people feel about that.

So, the soap operatic equivalent of a skrull then... :-)

The show is better than I thought...but it wouldn't bother me if they wrapped up the story in 13 episodes. Episodic TV being what it is these days, they won't do that, but they should.
