Hmmm, I wonder if we get the Next Time trailer here in the UK to add a little running time to the episodes? It's only about a minute, if that, so if it's meant to disguise the fact that 21st century Who is made to a format suited to the needs of American television and your ad breaks over there then the BBC isn't kidding anyone.

Well I found it a so-so episode in a so-so season but I LOVED the ending and am really looking forward to the Xmas episode now.

I was really enjoying the episode, until the water-girl, which felt like a cop-out. It might have worked a bit better for me if they had spent an episode establishing a relationship with her and Bill.

I think they left an out for Bill to return next season with Heather's offer to turn Bill fully human if she wanted.

For a brief second, I thought it was Clara emerging from the puddle.
Really, it might as well have been. The Moffat traditions continue: Promising start, mentally-muddled finish, two hot chicks run away together.

I was afraid Nardole was going to admit to being Susan.

Now I wonder if he isn't Dorium Maldovar.

Maybe Moffat learned from RTD after all...instead of a Deux Ex Machina, he went with Deus Ex Lesbea.  Have to say I have never seen that one.

13th meets 1st...well, it could be good, guess we'll find out in just under 6 months.

The return of John Simm seemed pointless and so much potential of having the Master and Missy unrealised. That could have been a two parter in its own right rather than a sub-plot to a Cybermen storyline.

Indeed. I was kind of hoping Simm would regenerate into Pratt/Beevers or something more interesting that what we got.

And it felt kind of...is 'Holodecky' a word? 'Holodeck-esque'?...with the totally different 'outdoor' level of the ship...which they felt compelled to keep reminding us was a totally different level of the ship...

I think the oil puddle ship is the 2nd cousin of the monolith from 2001.

Furthermore, I felt short changed by not having the Master regenerate into Missy, or Missy regenerate into a new version.

Indeed, unless assuming I had not missed something before (and I probably had!), I had wondered if Missy might regenerate into Derek Jacobi as I was not anything that explicitly stated that Missy had come over after Simm's Master.

They implied that the Missy was not going to be regenerating unless she hedged her bets for some kind of un-death as the Master did in his body stealing phase or reconstructed by some odd ritual by cultists phase, or "I'm slime in a box" but still body stealing phase.

The ending definitely got my attention for the Christmas special. Pity it was leaked.

I'd love to get to the regeneration and not know who the new Doctor was going to be.

Missy had vague memories of intimidating herself into remembering to always bring a spare dematerialization circuit.

Also, the joke where she hit him over the head, and felt pain in that same spot on her head.

Of course. Thanks, both (although thought the joke lame!).

I would add that one of the reasons I felt frustrated with the under use of John Simm in this final episode is that I thought he finally got the feel and look of the Master right - I've always enjoyed his appearances but felt they lacked something until now.

The Master needs a goatee. (Thank whoever and whatever that Moffatt never wrote a scene where 'Missy' drew one on with a Sharpie!)

I was thinking that becasue the whole "I remember a scary lady told me once..." statement, Missy was prepared for the Master's revenge.

People are treating this finale like it's the greatest Dr. Who episode ever, and the more they laud it, the worse I think it is.
