Any speculation on the vault?

So far, this season is reminding me a lot of the first season of NuWho, in a good way.  I wish Capaldi had been given three seasons along this line, rather than a one season epilogue to Matt Smith, a season as Clara's sidekick, and only now getting to just play the Doctor.

***

Steve has it in a nutshell. These first two episodes has a low budget simple story vibe that we saw in the first season that slowly shifted to Moffat's excesses and ego.

So far, three for three.

I liked how they addressed Bill having racial issues in the past—it bugged me
in "The Shakespeare Code" how Martha tries to bring it up and the Doctor just
kind of handwaves it away—while still acknowledging that Regency London
was more multiracial than portrayed in period dramas.

I miss Pete and hope they bring him back.

I barely watched the last season of Doctor Who, and didn't watch the Christmas special at all. This one, I'm enjoying.

Three knocks eh? Guess that's that sorted then.

This one was the weakest of the season so far for me. It looked great but the story felt like I had seen it before many times in earlier seasons.

There's a rumor going around that Clara will be back for the finale. And not as a hallucination or flashback during the regeneration scene.

I hope this rumor is wrong, as I'd actually rather like to never see her again unless its for her to actually die.

We've seen her death. There's nothing more to see there other than her
stepping back into her timeline.

I'd like to see the Doctor see Clara again and recover all his memories
before he regenerates. It's not like his next regeneration will have to be
overly attached to her like he was.

Make sure Moffat reads this! If it's the actual plan, he may feel compelled to change it!

Moffatt hasn't been himself so far this season.  He seems to have really crawled out of his own ass, and just be doing traditional, straight up Doctor Who.

This is the Doctor.  This is his companion.  Every week they go somewhere in time and space and have an adventure.

Its pretty refreshing.

It's a damn shame that we haven't had more of these kind of episodes out of Moffatt.

But knowing him he could be saving it up for the end. It wouldn't surprise me if Moffatt himself was inside the Vault.

So far, we've had the same plot every week: "The Doctor and Bill meet an alien that's not really 'bad', just 'misunderstood'."

Is Clara the nuWho equivalent of Mel?

(Namely the companion no one wants to see again, unless its just to see her die a horrible death.)

------

Definitely not. She's polarizing, not universally disliked.

Maybe Omega is in the vault. We haven't heard from him in a while and I'm sure the prop designers have a new crazy helmet ready to go. Then next series the new Doctor can rescue the master from being enslaved by a resurrected Sutekh who is trying to wipe out the cyber men in the distant future since they aren't dead enough.

After seeing the final scene of episode four I think it's Missy in the vault.

I think its the John Simm Master in the vault.  My theory is that the Doctor caught him trying to cross his own timeline (which is a disastrous no-no right up until the Doctor needs to do it), and so the Doctor is 'babysitting' him until such time as he can be safely released.

I hope it isn't Missy or the Master. That seems to be the most obvious choices. I want to be surprised by the big reveal. Maybe Simm would have been a surprise had the beans not been spilled.

Not sure, but i think the subtle message in Oxygen was
Capitalism=Bad!I`m finding this series pretty `Meh` so
far and find myself thinking, just tell us who/what is in
the vault, but am expecting that reveal to be a let down.

After years of irritating excess, it seems we now have LoBudgetNuWho, where the Doctor and Bill have some good scenes on their own, yet nothing of any consequence happens when other characters appear.
Or 'Who's Line Is It, Anyway'...where the stories are made up, and the villains don't matter.
Alfred, I mean Jarvis..I mean, Mr. BelvNardoledere, really hasn't added anything to the series, either.
