I'm astounded another team is taking a chance on Smith at all.

He acted like a punk over the draft, lost his job as Jets starter to a QB who had one good year then stunk on ice, then got his jaw broken by his own team mate...who other team mates defended over it.

I was surprised as well. Setting aside his off the field punkery. I saw nothing on the field that would interest me. Not even as a third string backup. Now you add to that the off the field noise. He's not someone players would rally behind if he had to fill in for a while.

There's no upside to him that I can see whatsoever. When his own team mates defended the player who broke his jaw, that spoke volumes. He's an asshole and isn't going to get anyone to rally behind him. He probably couldn't even rally a Cub Scouts troop, let alone a football team.

Colin Kaepernick was still unemployed last time I checked, but I'd be surprised if someone doesn't eventually sign him. Depends on whether or not he realizes he's likely going to end up a backup, and whether GMs and owners can get over the protesting. Which he's already said he is not going to do any more.

It's a cock tease.  Nothing matters but the real season.  The draft has been blown up to be something astronomical, as if it can change the hopes and dreams of every team.  But it's not.  It's morphed from a procedure into a television product.  Fun?  Sure.  Important and game changing? Rarely.

I'll watch the first day and then keep up with the rest of the rounds via various online sites.
