I have been notified via email that a Spider-Man drawing I did in May of
2013 is in violation of Disney's trademark and was removed from the
internet.

Also, there was lawyer-speak.

Dude. Really? Pick on someone your own size.

They don't just randomly go after little guys. Somebody must have complained to Disney about your drawing for them to have even noticed it.

That sounds suspicious to me. Of all the literal millions of fan drawings on the net if Marvel characters, why single out that one?  And it's still obviously on the Internet.  I think someone is playing around with you, Joe.

Those were among my first thoughts as well, Matt.

Joe, is there language included in the email which prevents you from sharing it
here?

While Disney apparently has sent "cease and desist" letters via email, those are usually for people who are selling merchandise using Disney characters and logos without permission:

As Matt says, not sure why Disney would go after some fan art.

Perhaps someone lifted it from the internet somewhere and started selling it or otherwise merchandising it?

There's no logical answer to this, unless I should be keeping an eye on my own email!

I wouldn't have posted this if it wasn't real.

Any chances that it is a joke?
