Joe, there us nothing wrong with any of us being suspicious about the message sent to you, and nobody here is saying you don't think it's real, so why the show of exasperation with our questions?

I was going to ask the same thing Wallace asked, is there any chance you might be able to share the actual message with us? We're trying to understand if this is real, or if someone is messing with you, which is a valid concern.

Another thing about this that has me curious: Where else on the internet has your drawing been posted, Joe?

What's the email address it was sent from? That info could settle this pretty quick.

Joe, if you aren't aware, Nathan works for Disney, and can verify the info he is asking for.

I am pretty sure if Disney was asking you to stop drawing Fan Spider-man pics, they would have sent you a certified letter in the mail. This way they can prove in court that they did indeed notify you, and that you did receive said notification.

From what little revealed here, it sounds like to me it wasn't as much the drawing as the reproduction of said drawing on a website. Depending on the site and how it was used on the site could be part of the issue. Especially if the wording specifically was over "trademark" and not "copyright". Trademark covers as much how it used than the simple fact it is being used. For example, pretend that Rog 2000 was still under copyright. Someone simply posting an image from the comic without any kind of discussion, that would technically be a copyright violation. How he is used on the landing page as artwork that promotes and establishes identity of the site would be argued as trademark violation.

Also, as I understand it companies pretty much have to go after trademark violators as opposed to copyright infringers. Allowing people to use a trademark without defending it can lower the value of the trademark in future cases or even be considered as abandoning the trademark.

I'm not sure that was the issue, Ed.
