Longtime host of Turner Classic Movies has passed... he'll be greatly missed.  If he gave introductions to every movie ever made, I'd watch them all.  Loved his demeanor, class and presentation.

RIP

For many years, his introductions were marvels of machine-like, bulletproof precision.  He went 2-4 minutes setting the table for nearly every movie without a single misspoken word or stutter (and reportedly usually in one take).  The past few years after returning from his first surgery and leave of absence he was finally human and occasionally slurred his speech here or there but his intros were still solid.  I always felt he had a great job, getting paid well to share his passion with us and to interact with filmmakers and obviously he agreed saying he would only leave when his health made it necessary.   Sorry he turned out to be right.  RIP

I could listen to him talk about the classics all night. A wealth of film industry knowledge and unending anecdotes , he will be missed.

And now I could kick myself for not going to one of the annual TCM film festivals earlier. It won't be the same without him when I do cross that one off my bucket list.

R.I.P.

RIP

I really enjoyed his introductions and interviews. TCM is a staple for me - it's my default station. He has been a wonderful part of the network over the years.

I did get one chance to see him in person - he introduced a screening of MARY POPPINS at the 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival. It was at the El Capitan Theater, and the house went wild when he took the stage.

I liked his intros a lot; he conveyed a kind of calm enthusiasm that whetted your appetite for the film you were about to see. Sad to hear he's gone.

He appeared on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast (Gilbert was a guest host on TCM a few years ago as well), and Osborne's story of his life was *fascinating* I encourage everyone to check it out.

A nice summation over at CNN, as to why Osborne was so important to film lovers, these past few decades:
