Mr. Byrne - you were A common element. But among inkers, editors, marketers, etc., there was another common element - DC Comics.
Do you feel the same when you look back at your Marvel and IDW work? If not, we may have identified the disruption.

JB, I thought for sure the shorter stories you've done for DC, like the Enemy Ace story in that Christmas special, would've been an completely enjoyable experience for you. (Plus, getting to "play" with Kirby's FOURTH WORLD characters, The Demon and OMAC???)
* Your Batman: Gotham Knights story was pretty fun too!!

Charles, when I say everything has a shadow on it, I mean everything. We used to say that with a writer, a penciler, an inker, a lettere, a colorist, and all the "behind the scenes" people you don't even think about, there are just SO many chances to screw it up.

I hear what you're saying, JB... just a shame that "playing" with those DC characters couldn't have resulted in a more enjoyable experience... butI have felt that way with some of the work I've done now that I think deeper about it!

I notice that the 4 issue World of Krypton miniseries, which is not included in this volume, is included in the DC Universe by Mike Mignola hardcover, which comes out this month.

Bumping this thread as the book will be on stores this week! This has been earmarked as the gift I get for myself since it was announced, so I will be grabbing one this week.
This DC collection has material I have never seen before, so i am really excited to get this.

Amazon shows it with a release date of December 19 but www.instocktrades.com has it starting today (for $19.99). It shows as having 432 pages (to answer a question someone had several months ago).
JB's World of Krypton miniseries isn't included in this hardcover but is available in the DC Universe by Mike Mignola collection that came out several months ago and will also be in the upcoming Superman: the Many Worlds of Krypton trade paperback coming in March. That paperback is similar to DC's Superman: the Worlds of Krypton trade that came out in 2008 except each of them has some stuff the other doesn't. The 2008 trade includes Man of Steel #1 and stories from Superman 367 and 375 while the 2018 trade will include DC's World of Krypton (non-JB) miniseries from 1979. It's a shame the new edition isn't going to include Man of Steel #1 and the other stories so as to have a more complete edition.
Also out today is Marvel's Fantastic Four Masterworks Vol. 19, which features JB art on some of the issues (from before his writer-artist stint). And Amazon lists the second hardcover volume of JB's Wonder Woman as coming in July!
