Let's make a game of this!  We post the captions and dialogue found on the cover of our first comic, and try to identify each other's comics based on those scant clues alone.  Try not to use google when identifying each other's comics, it will be more fun to attempt this by memory!
-If your first comic has no text, there are other ways to define your "first" comic...I'm choosing the first comic I bought with my own money, for example.  The text of which reads:

IN THIS ISSUE: THE DEADLY DEBUT OF SILVER SHADE! ...AND FIRESTORM'S FIERCEST FIGHT EVER!

Okay, I have decided to "cheat" a bit on this, since my first comics were British, and most of the Forum would not have any chance of guessing what they were. So here's my first AMERICAN comic:

Batman (thinks): A -- A new Batman and Robin team! Robin's grown up and become Batman -- with a new boy as Robin!

Blurb: Featuring "RIP VAN BATMAN!"

No idea on either of those.

Mine:

"The battle is over, hapless fools!  Now you are at the mercy of the ELIMINATOR!  And the Eliminator shows no mercy!!"

Mine should be easy to identify the series:

"Mother--Dad!  Please...please HELP ME!"

"My son...who did this AWFUL THING TO YOU?

Blurb: The Super-Merman of the Sea

Joseph's has to be a Flash issue.

JB's is obviously Batman or Detective Comics -- but no clue which one.

I;m stumped by Paul's.

I know Paul's:

Fantastic Four 184. I remember buying that comic off the rack back in May/June 1977.

=========================================
Mine:

"Let the trial by combat begin!! The battle only one of us will survive!"

Steven, was yours a Superboy issue? Somewhere around 1971, maybe issue 189, something like that.

Mine is probably pretty easy....

Dialogue-
"Stand Aside, Avengers! The Squadron Supreme Is Taking Over!"

Blurb-
"It's ACTION all the way! 'Nuff Said!"

-C!

While I'm pretty sure this wasn't my very first comic, it's certainly my earliest comic book memory...

ENTER...CAPTAIN UNIVERSE!

Darren, it was #194.  I read that comic until the cover fell off.  One of the next comics I bought was  Superboy and the Legion #204 which confused the heck out of me.  Superboy was barely in it!
