So, some of you may have remembered that it was a news item a few months ago that Captain America had been brainwashed by Hydra. Well spoilers for the first issue of the latest Marvel "event" came out today. Behold:

"It turns out that in the Marvel Universe, the Nazis won the war and it was the Allies who used the Cosmic Cube to rewrite history. That's revelation number one, but the truth is that Captain America was always loyal to Hydra. The actions of the Allies changed his life and left him with false memories of the war until fate led to the Red Skull using Kobik not to change his history, but actually restore it.

What this means is that Captain America has always been a villain. To call this shocking would be an understatement and it's something sure to upset fans hoping Steve would be "restored" to his old self.

While Captain America's adventures from when he was recovered from the ice all happened, the heroic Steve we all know and loved was a lie created by Cosmic Cube wielding Allies who wanted to save the world from the Nazis. In reality, Cap was always a spy who was loyal to Hydra and the version we're getting now is what he was always meant to be."

Captain America will eventually be restored to status quo. Unfortunately for those of us who really have a fondness for the character. We'll have to suffer through a long and disappointing story line before it happens. Here comes another Clone Saga.

I know, I was absolutely shocked when I saw this a few days ago. I know it's all made up stories and we shouldn't really care but I really thought this was an easy fix and now it seems even more befouled than before.

Is it possible to scrub your brain hard enough that you don't remember stuff? I really wish I hadn't read that.

After last year's "Hail Hydra" stunt, it's a bit apparent that Marvel is
using any outrage for publicity. Just ignore it. The bad guys are the
ones explaining Cap's secret history, and at some point this will be
revealed as lie upon a lie upon a lie. Until then, no need to feed the
beast.

Who's idea was this? I ask so as to avoid any future output from the same source.

It's sad when the movie version of a comic character gets it closer than the comic version.

What I find shocking is that anyone is buying this crap. Especially with the movies doing so well staying closer to the source material.

I really do miss the ol' Marvel Universe. This current one is hellbent on destroying all these beloved characters Stan and Jack created.
