Name your Top 5 characters created by JB.  As is always the case with me, only list five.  No honorable mentions or ties.  It's a tough question, so think carefully and make the tough choice!

Go!

Tough question indeed! I've decided to try to stick with characters that I actually remember from when JB worked on them, regardless of how they've been altered or their popularity afterwards.

  • Kitty Pride
  • Maggie Sawyer
  • Guardian (James Hudson)
  • Wonder Girl (Cassie)
  • Silver Banshee

Aldus Hilltop/Sathanas - JBNM is my favorite John Byrne series in part
because it features a great villain. Sathanas is as evil as they come,
and his rise to power is a fascinating journey.

Babe - What's not to like about five wonderful women in one? If only
there could have been sixty issues instead of just six...

Jasmine - I love Jazz! (I would say it's because she's got more
bounce to the ounce, but I'd be lying.)

Puck - One side, Atom. This is a job only Puck can handle!

Tony Murcheson - Sorry, Diana and Jennifer, but Tony is the
strongest woman JB has ever written!

Impossible. It would literally change minute by minute. It would change as I was TYPING the list.

So glad that I don't have to choose - just reread everything I want to!

There were also a lot of characters I really like that I doubt will appear on anyone's list. Not a list of favorites, but I wonder who will include...

The Romulan Commander's wife?
Vanguard?
The Lab Rats?
Danger Unlimited?

Damn me anyhow, I'm listing. No, while there are a couple of characters I didn't like so much, the majority of output is all a delight to  me. Thanks, Mr. Byrne!

••

I wonder if any of those were characters I didn't WANT you to like? Like Bruce Wayne Jr. in GENERATIONS.

Kitty Pryde
Rog 2000
Nanny
The girl from "Critical Error"
Box

The criteria I decided upon was "who's in books that I'm not getting rid of?" Looking the list over, it seems I'm very into the "Robotics" part of "Byrne Robotics..." (And yes, I know the ending to "Critical Error," but for a moment there... :-)

It's gratifying to me how many people "get" Tony Murcheson. I poured a whole lot into her, and most of it worked. She and Jazz are my favorites of my own characters. (And personality-wise, we couldn't get much further apart, could we!)
